EPS-1 Guidemaster Switch
Technical Bulletin
Hannay Reels announced this month that beginning in February 2001,
they will be switching back to the EPS-1 style explosion-proof
switch supplied on Guidemasters. Hannay Reels last used this switch
in the mid 1990‘s. The EPS-1 switch is back by popular demand
and replaces the current EPS-3 (plastic) switch.
The advantages of the EPS-1 switch include an aluminum housing
as well as the ability to replace the internal switch without
replacing the housing. There is one significant difference between
the EPS-1 switch used years ago, and the new EPS-1 switch that
is now available. The new EPS-1 has a larger OD near its base
that MATCHES the diameter of the EPS-3. When ordering your Hannay
Reel parts, please note these item numbers.
9917.0200 – EPS-1 switch
0017.0203 – EPS-3 switch (limited avail)
9917.0205– GM-600 switch mtg cylindrical bracket; mounts
EPS-1
switches in older GM-600 Guidemasters with smaller bolt
pattern
If a customer has a Guidemaster (GM-600) and needs to replace
the switch, most likely Lin’s will need to send the customer
a new cylindrical bracket (9917.0205) as well. The older brackets
on these GM-600’s have too small an ID to accept the new
EPS-1 switch.
